May G.R.A.C.E., May 4,6,7,9: 6:00 - 8:30 PM. Final monthly session for year. Catechetical area: Catholic Prayer and Spirituality. Specific catechetical theme: Prayer: Keeping the Fires Burning. How can we open ourselves more deeply to God's Spirit in our prayer? Event focusing on: Celebrating the Feast of Pentecost on May 10/11. Dinner: outdoor grilled hot dogs, chips, salad, ice cream. Come and join us in this special season-ending formation experience.

Registration for next year's G.R.A.C.E.: Please use the website information provided under all the Faith Formation and G.R.A.C.E. links to familiarize yourself with all the facets of faith formation at SSJP. You may download and print out registration forms for our Sunday Early Childhood Program or Grades 1-8 Family Registration or for High School and Adult (18 yrs and older). Please turn them in at the office or in the Sunday collection. Thank you.

May Weekly Rosary on Mondays. During the month of May we invite people to pray the rosary. The parish has a public praying of the rosary each Monday of the month at 6:30 PM (before the 7:00 PM Mass), except for Memorial Day, when it is at 8:30 AM. Each week one of the sets of the mysteries will be prayed (May 5-Luminous, May 12-Joyful, May 19-Glorious, May 26-Sorrowful).

Catholic Services Appeal Continues May 10/11. Our 2008 Catholic Services Appeal continues this week. This is an essential part of our parish's financial stewardship. Please be generous. For more information or pledge/donation forms please click on CSA.

May 10/11 at all weekend Masses: Mother's Day Flower Sale. Donations go to support Project Hope, a service sponsored by Catholic Social Services of Macomb County, a pro-life crisis pregnancy program that provides resources to expectant mothers so that they can continue with the pregnancy.

May 13, Tuesday, 6:30 PM: Scripture study on "Women in the New Testament." Meets in the Activities Center.

May 14, Wednesday, 6:30 PM: May Crowning Service. All are invited to be part of this parish wide service. Hymns, praying the rosary, and Rite of Crowning an Image of the Blessed Virgin.

May 14, Wednesday, 7:00 PM: All Commissions Meeting and Parish Pastoral Council. Please attend the May Crowning prayer beforehand.

May 17 , Saturday, 7:30 -8:30 AM: Men's Bible Study and Prayer Group. Meets in the Actitivities Center.

May 18, Sunday: Coffe and Donuts after all Masses. From May through August we will have coffee and donuts once a month. Please note that at the May coffee and donuts there will be a bake sale, prepared by Pam Hester, one of our cantors, who is in college and looking toward youth ministry. She will be attending a national convention on "Promoting the Common Good." All proceeds will help fund her way.

May 18, Sunday, 9:30 AM Mass: Selecting of New Parish Council Members. Please pray for the council and those nominated. New members are chosen by selection. To read about the nominees, see the Sunday bulletin for May 11.

May 18, Sunday, 3:00 - 5:00 PM: Ladies Parish Tea. $12 for adults, $6 for children. Professional "tea etiquette" person will be there. You are invited to decorate a table and bring a tea setting. Call the parish for tickets or for more information.

May 20, Tuesday, 6:30 PM: Scripture study on "Women in the New Testament." Meets in the Activities Center.

May 21, Wednesday, 6:30 - 9:00 PM: Parish Outdoor Spring Clean-Up. Bring gloves, rakes, wheelbarrows, other gardening tools to help us prepare the flower beds and replace all the mulch on the islands. Many hands, lighter work!

May 24/25, All Weekend Masses: Teaching Mass. Fr. Dave Buersmeyer will preside at all Masses this weekend and celebrate them in a "teaching style" to help us focus on some of the parts of the Mass, what they mean, and how we are invited to participate. As a preparation for these Masses please read the short pamphlet "Our Sunday Eucharist" as well as the readings for that Sunday (see link above on daily and Sunday Scripture).

May 26, Monday, Memorial Day. Mass will be at 9:00 AM. No 7:00 PM Mass that evening. Please bring the names of those who have died in service of our country or who have since passed away.
